Mirnok was originally a penal colony for Solia and surrounding systems. It was a dumping ground for the most hardened criminals and those who were deemed unfit to breathe the air of their betters. They were placed here and left to die in the harsh wasteland that is Mirnok. Mirnok has been a byword for cruelty since it's inception. The few natural resources that were here immediately became less like battle trophies for the roving gangs of murderous madmen, and more like bastions of life for the criminals that fought to stay alive. After an earthquake that destroyed a rudimentary city on the outskirts of Lake Gehenna, a vein of valuable ore was found and somehow spotted by the vigilant crew of a prison transport. It was reported immediately and within weeks certain corporations were sending mercenaries on "punitive expeditions" around Lake Gehenna. It was a total slaughter. Mining operations were soon in order, and a new use for the criminals of Mirnok came into play. Now used as a dispensable labor force, the criminals are hunted and captured by unscrupulous corporate mercenaries and taken to the mines for "re-education".
