From Chosen Space V2 Wiki

A Manufactory allows a captain to combine raw materials into Components and Parts which can then be combined into larger items (see "Larger Items" below).
Components are made from alloys and other elements.
Parts are made from components combined with alloys and/or other elements.

Note: Keep an eye on the number of isatons of the item you are building. If it is larger than your ship's hold, you will not be able to remove it from the Manufactory until you own (or borrow) a larger ship!
