Kryos has a rich history in the Solian system. A civilization who bore little resemblance genetically from any other nearby species flourished here millenia ago. It was once a Pelagic Class World. There was a catastrophic asteroid strike that actually knocked the planet from its regular orbital rotation. So much detrius was thrown so high into the ionosphere, that Kryos was lost in a freezing darkness that lasts into the present. The people who once inhabited this cold dark world built wonderful machines and advanced computers long before they were discovered independently in other parts of the galaxy. They had magnificent flying machines and boasted the first sentient artificial intelligence created. Sadly this came to an abrupt end when the asteroid struck. The only records that have been found to corroborate anything about this planet's past were unearthed during a rescue after a skiing accident. Kryos was relatively flat, but the asteroid created a magnificently tall mountain range, and an abysmally deep crevasse in the western hemisphere. Now some of the finest winter sporting events that can be seen in Solian are here on Kryos, but only in the summer months. The winter is far too harsh for most technology to be able to compensate for.
