Dax Polaris

There's been a lot of speculation on Dax's origins. Some say he's a Genian from Rumino, others swear he's Jexian from Ezra. Ask Dax himself and he's likely to change the subject.

He's a quiet man, oddly refined for a spacer. Fit, with dark eyes and a hint of gold in his smile, hair more or less shot with grey depending when you see him. Something in his eyes, though, makes you think the man has a past, and one he'd rather forget. They say he killed a man with his bare hands in a fight on Prolix... But then, they say all kinds of things, don't they?

They also say he's a writer. I know for sure he reads a lot. In the right mood -- make that a couple of shots of a fine single malt from old Terra -- he'll recite poetry. And I mean whole poems, hundreds of lines long, from memory. I remember once in a bar hearing him give an extraordinary recitation of Robert Burns's epic tall tale Tam O'Shanter[1] in full Scottish brogue. Brought the house down: people were buying him drinks all night.

If you meet him, be polite. Dax'll remember that.

Dax Polaris owns and operates a shipyard, Ion Lady Yard, at Jexia 69,69 (Ezra Space). He holds the rank of Lord in the respected Alliance of Avalon. Dax's chief roles in the Alliance of Avalon include R&T (recruiting and training), and conducting diplomacy with other factions. Dax is also an active miner, shipbuilder, artist, and writer.
