There are two different sized avatars for in-game use. The personal avatar is 80 pixels wide and 80 pixels high. It must a .gif format and is not allowed to contain any animations.

The small avatar is 16 pixels high and 16 pixels wide. Just like the 80x80 it must also be a .gif file and is not allowed to contain animations. This avatar may be left blank by the player if he wishes to display the small sized faction avatar of the faction he/she belongs to.

You can add/edit your avatar by clicking on "My Captain" and then clicking on the "Edit Symbol" button. There you will be presented with two choices. The 80x80 or the 16x16. Click on the "Browse" button, find the location of the avatar you have saved on your PC and upload it to the game server.

Forum avatars are the same size (80x80) and can be uploaded by logging in to the forums and clicking on the "Profile" button at the top right corner of the screen. Than scroll down to the "Avatar Control Panel" and click on "Browse", select your avatar, and finish the process by clicking on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen.

Forum signatures can be up to 100 pixels high and 500 pixels wide. Like all other avatars they must be .gif files and contain no animations.

To add an image as your signature in the forums take the following steps:

1. Save your signature on an image hosting website (imageshack, photobucket, etc)

2. Copy the URL of your image (the URL starts with http:// and ends with .gif)

3. Log on to the forums, go to 'Profile', scroll down to the 'Signature' block.

4. In the 'Signature' block enter the following...

[img]paste_your_image_URL_here[/img]

note: You have to put the BB codes on either side of the URL. In this case the BB codes are [img] and [/img].

5. Scroll down to the bottom of the 'Profile' page and click 'Sumbit'

If you did it correctly, the signature should now show up on all past posts you have made in the forums. Just look at one of your old posts and see if it's there.
