Planet Aeten is the azure blue gem of the Raxian system. It is the major supplier of H2O Packs to its entire neighbourhood, since more than 90% of its surface is covered by water. The presence of microorganisms requires that the water is thoroughly filtered. The planetary ecosystem is based on different metabolism than the human one, resulting in no digestible form of local flora or fauna, while at the same time preventing any imported food sources from prospering. The planet is almost fully dependent on importing Nutrition Packs. During the 9th millenium CE, Aeten became an important exporter of Polymers.

[edit] Capital City

Aeten City, the planetary capital, is located on the northern hemisphere. Any good navigation computer will give you the exact coordinates. The city is completely underwater, a magnificent complex of transparent domes, glistening in the light of the Raxian yellow sun as it penetrates the shelf waters of the ocean.

Due to the polymeric metabolisms of the Aetenian lifeforms, and their considering anything containing polymer a table set for dinner, the planet requires a fair amount of Housing Units, mainly for the regular maintenance of Aeten City. These have to be imported, along with Commercial Units.

Aeten has a large industrial complex for processing raw Polymers. The facility is located on the largest island, near the south pole of the globe. The top quality Polymers produced here are exported. There is a great number of water purification plants scattered around the whole planet. The process is not simple, since the water is full of microorganisms and various elements, harmful to the human organism if accumulated in the body in large numbers. Some of the H2O Packs produced there are used by the planetary population, however, most are exported to supply the neighbouring planets.

Both the industry and the Aetenian population require Commercial Units, which have to be imported to Aeten.

The industry of Aeten have largely developed with the presence of Raxian Merchants Alliance, there is now 2 public Starbase, and all the facilities to develop an economy for all the population. This would not have been possible without the solid Alliances the leaders of Aeten have forged with the North Star Alliance and the Technomages Alliance.

[edit] Ecosystem

The original lifeforms of Aeten are based on polymeric metabolism. Flora or fauna as we know them are virtually non-existent. The oceans are full of microorganisms, using blue substance similar to chlorophyll to photosyntesize. This process decomposes raw Polymers, the waste being hydrogen and oxygen in vast quantities, plus some nitrogen. It is generally presumed that the oceans and breathable atmosphere on Aeten were created by this process. Most of the microorganisms do not live in colonies, the only known exception being the Aetean Rubberwhale.

The Aetean Rubberwhale, a colony of aquatic tiny organisms, usually measures about 500 isametres in length and about 50-100 isametres in diameter. It lives in the dark depths of Aetean oceans, where it filters the water and mud from the ocean-bed in search for dead organisms. Its metabolic cycle makes the submerged colony to surface every few days to get rid of waste material.

When the first explorers saw the giant blue-black glob penetrate the ocean surface it reminded them of an ancient creature called „whale“. After the Rubberwhale reaches the surface it tears on the top and it squirts its pressurized waste materials up to 100 isametres high. The slimy substance then reacts with atmospheric nitrogen and the unique combination of trace elements in the atmosphere, creating amorphous crystals of transparent raw Polymers floating on the ocean surface.

The Rubberwhale then submerges again, its torn upper part making a splash just like the legendary „whale“ creature. The raw Polymers then become source of nutrients for the vast array of microorganisms living in the ocean. Aetean scientists found out, that these raw Polymers, if gathered before being consumed by the microorganisms, can be processed into top quality Polymers, highly sought after by the manufacturers of living quarters, such as Housing Units, Commercial Units, Crew Units, Officer Units or Cabin Units.

The Raxian Merchants Alliance decided to build a training academy for new space pilots on one of the larger islands on Aeten. New space pilots may attend free courses there. Message Captains Phas3r or Giant Jon for more informations.
